Adelaide and the Shooting Star

Today's Transcript

There's a SNAP- Adelaide's eyes open wide, her concentration on the spell lost. The spell's haywire effects are immediate; the broom's handle breaks in two, the suitcase crashes into a wall, some wallpaper gets ripped, and a cushion gently falls to the floor with a 'thump.' Adelaide picks up the brush end of the broom, glaring at it. ADELAIDE (thinking): ...That I'm a witch. A terrible witch at that. ADELAIDE: aaaaagh goddammit! She tosses the broom handle- it hits the floor and bounces away. ADELAIDE: What kind of witch can't focus on a spell for, like- ten seconds?! Adelaide shrugs, resigns herself. Behind her, through the shattered window, a long shadow scuttles up the wall of the apartment building. ADELAIDE: The traditional way it is, then. Hah. (serves me right trying to use magic, I suppose)
